What is the social scene like at Lehigh compared with UMass Amherst?

The biggest practical difference is scale and structure: UMass Amherst has a much larger, more diffuse social scene with lots of different circles and events happening at once, while Lehigh’s social life tends to feel smaller, more concentrated, and more shaped by campus traditions and Greek life. At UMass, the size of the student body and the Five College area create a broader mix of personalities, so it is easier to find everything from very outgoing party-oriented groups to quieter friend circles. At Lehigh, student life often feels more centered on the campus itself, and weekends can have a more defined social rhythm.

Lehigh is usually seen as the more tightly knit of the two. People often describe it as spirited, socially active, and pretty campus-centric, with a stronger sense that students know the main social hubs and weekend patterns.
