Lehigh is likely the more cohesive, traditional campus-social option, while American University offers a more independent, city-centered social experience. At Lehigh, it is typically easier to run into the same people repeatedly because undergraduates live and socialize around a compact Bethlehem campus. American’s Washington, D.C., setting creates more off-campus possibilities, but students’ schedules and social circles can be more dispersed.

Lehigh has a visible Greek-life presence, along with athletics, student organizations, residence-hall events, and parties that shape many weekend plans. Students also spend time in Bethlehem’s South Side, but the campus itself remains the main social hub. That can make it especially easy for a first-year student to find a regular group through their dorm, clubs, Greek life, or sports-related events.
