Duke is typically viewed as slightly more selective than Georgetown for undergraduate admissions. Both are highly competitive, but Duke usually draws a broader national applicant pool across its undergraduate programs, and it tends to be discussed in the same tier as the most selective private research universities. Georgetown is also very hard to get into, but its admissions profile has historically felt a bit different because of its strong concentration in politics, international relations, and public service.

One concrete difference is applicant behavior.
