Carnegie Mellon or Rice for computer science: which is better for undergrad CS?

For undergraduate CS, Carnegie Mellon is the more powerful option if you want the deepest CS ecosystem, the strongest name recognition in the field, and the widest range of advanced coursework and research built specifically around computing.

CMU tends to fit the student who actively wants a high-intensity CS environment. You would be surrounded by many peers who are very serious about technical work, and employers know that CMU CS students are trained in a rigorous curriculum.

Rice makes more sense for someone who wants CS in a smaller, more personal undergraduate setting where teaching access and campus culture may feel less intense.
