RPI vs Brandeis for STEM: which is better for a student interested in engineering or computer science?
I’m a junior trying to narrow down colleges and both RPI and Brandeis are on my list. I’m most interested in STEM, especially engineering or computer science, and I want a school where the academics and opportunities actually match that interest.

The biggest practical tradeoff is specialization versus breadth: RPI is built around engineering, computing, and technical fields, while Brandeis is a broader liberal arts research university where STEM is solid but not the campus center of gravity. If engineering is a serious interest, that matters a lot because RPI offers a full engineering environment with multiple engineering majors, design-focused coursework, and a student culture heavily oriented toward technical work.
