Caltech vs Duke for biomedical engineering: which is the better fit for an undergrad pre-med or research-focused student?

I’m trying to decide between Caltech and Duke for biomedical engineering, and I’m mostly interested in the overall fit for an undergrad who cares about research and possibly pre-med. Both seem strong, but they feel really different in size and campus culture.

For a research-only student who wants the most concentrated pure STEM atmosphere, Caltech has a real pull. For biomedical engineering with pre-med seriously in the picture, Duke makes more sense.
