Caltech vs Washington University in St. Louis for engineering: which is better for an undergraduate engineering major?
I’m trying to compare Caltech and Washington University in St. Louis as options for studying engineering in college. Both seem strong, but I’m having trouble understanding how they differ in the actual undergraduate experience.

Caltech gives you a much more engineering-and-science-saturated undergraduate experience, with a tiny student body, very rigorous core requirements, and unusually direct access to faculty research. WashU offers a broader campus environment, strong support, and solid engineering, but engineering is less central to the school’s identity than it is at Caltech.
