For finance careers, is Northeastern or Boston College the better college choice?

I’m a high school senior trying to decide between Northeastern and Boston College, and I’m interested in finance after college. Both schools seem strong, but I’m not sure which one gives students a better path into finance jobs and internships.

I’m mainly trying to understand which school has the stronger reputation and recruiting pipeline for finance careers.

For finance, Boston College usually has the clearer edge in reputation and recruiting pipeline, especially for traditional paths like investment banking, asset management, and corporate finance. BC’s Carroll School of Management is very well known in finance circles, and the school has a strong alumni presence in Boston, New York, and other East Coast finance hubs.

BC tends to fit the student who wants a more classic finance track with a strong business-school identity from the start. If you are aiming at high-finance recruiting, value alumni networking, and want classmates who are heavily focused on business, BC usually offers the more direct lane. Its finance reputation is one of the school’s biggest strengths, and that matters in fields where school brand and alumni connections can open early doors.

Northeastern makes more sense for the student who wants finance but cares a lot about built-in work experience and flexibility. Its co-op system is a real advantage for getting multiple internships before graduation, which can be excellent for careers in corporate finance, fintech, consulting-adjacent roles, and finance jobs where hands-on experience matters a lot. Northeastern students can graduate with a strong resume, but the school is often seen as less traditional than BC for the most prestige-driven parts of finance recruiting.

If your question is specifically about the stronger finance pipeline, I would lean Boston College. Between the two, BC is more likely to carry immediate weight with finance recruiters, while Northeastern can be very effective for students who know how to use the co-op system strategically.
