For an undergraduate business degree, is Northeastern or Boston College generally the better choice?

I’m trying to decide between Northeastern and Boston College for business and I keep seeing different opinions. I know both are strong schools, but I’m mostly trying to understand which one is generally considered better for an undergrad business student in terms of reputation and overall fit.

I’m not asking about current rankings or admissions, just the usual long-term comparison between the two.

For undergraduate business, Boston College is more often seen as the stronger pure business option in terms of traditional reputation, especially through the Carroll School of Management. Northeastern is highly respected too, but the appeal is usually more about career-building through co-ops and applied experience than about old-line business-school reputation.

Boston College tends to fit the student who wants a classic campus experience with a well-established business identity. If you care about brand perception in more traditional business settings, BC usually has the edge.

Northeastern makes more sense for the student who wants a very practical, work-integrated undergraduate experience. Its co-op system is the biggest differentiator, and for some students that matters more than prestige because they graduate with substantial resume experience and professional contacts. That can be especially attractive if you learn best by doing, want flexibility to explore different industries early, or like a more urban, career-focused environment.

The social and academic feel is also different. Boston College has a more contained campus, stronger school-spirit energy, and a more traditional college atmosphere. Northeastern feels more embedded in the city and often attracts students who are highly pre-professional and comfortable navigating a faster, less self-contained environment.
