Which is better for business: Boston University or Wake Forest?

I’m trying to narrow down my college list and both Boston University and Wake Forest are on it for business. I know they have different campus vibes and locations, but I’m mostly wondering which one is generally considered stronger for a business major.

I’m looking at this from the perspective of overall business reputation and how well the school sets students up for internships and jobs.

For business, Boston University tends to have the edge if you want a larger, more nationally visible business program with direct access to a major internship market during the school year. BU’s Questrom School of Business is widely recognized, and being in Boston gives students unusually strong proximity to finance, consulting, healthcare, tech, and startup opportunities. Wake Forest is also very well regarded, but it often stands out more for its tight-knit campus culture, strong advising, and outcomes that can feel especially personal rather than sheer scale.

BU makes the most sense for a student who wants a city-based college experience and expects to use location as part of their education. Questrom has a strong reputation, a broad alumni network, and the advantage of being embedded in a major economic hub where internships are accessible without needing to leave campus for a semester or summer. For students interested in finance, consulting, marketing, or entrepreneurship, that day-to-day exposure can be a real asset.

Wake Forest fits students who want business in a more traditional campus setting with smaller-scale community and close faculty interaction. The School of Business has a strong reputation, and Wake is known for polished career preparation and solid placement support. It can be especially appealing if you value a more personal undergraduate experience and a strong alumni culture that is often described as loyal and responsive.

In pure name recognition for business, BU is probably the more prominent option nationally. In terms of being set up for internships and jobs, BU benefits from Boston’s location and the size of its business ecosystem, while Wake often shines through individualized support and relationship-driven networking. If your priority is maximizing volume and variety of business opportunities while in college, BU likely holds more appeal. If you want a business education that feels more curated and community-oriented, Wake Forest has a compelling case.
