Notre Dame or Villanova for internship opportunities?

I’m a high school junior trying to figure out which school would be better for getting internship opportunities in college. Both Notre Dame and Villanova seem strong academically, but I’m mostly interested in how accessible internships are through each school’s network and career support.

I want to compare which one tends to be stronger for helping students find internships and build professional connections.

For internship access, Notre Dame usually has the broader national alumni reach, while Villanova often has an edge for students who want easy proximity to major East Coast employers during the school year. Notre Dame’s alumni network is famously loyal and very active in helping students open doors, and Villanova benefits a lot from being close to Philadelphia with strong connections into nearby business, healthcare, and corporate internships. Career support is solid at both, so the real difference is how you want to build those opportunities.

Notre Dame tends to suit the student who wants a very powerful alumni-driven network that stretches across the country and is especially useful in fields like finance, consulting, tech, and business more broadly. Its alumni culture is one of the school’s biggest strengths, and students often talk about grads being unusually responsive. That can matter a lot when you are looking for summer internships outside the immediate campus region, not just local options.

Villanova makes a lot of sense for the student who wants internships that are easier to access during the academic year, especially because of its location near Philadelphia and relative closeness to New York. If you see yourself wanting part-time in-semester internships, employer visits, and regular networking with companies in the Northeast corridor, Villanova can feel more convenient. That location advantage is especially noticeable in business-related fields, and Villanova’s business school has a strong reputation with employers.

For a student who wants the strongest long-term relationship network and is comfortable being more intentional about traveling or pursuing summer opportunities, I would lean Notre Dame. For a student who values geographic access to employers and wants internship options woven more directly into the school year, Villanova has a very practical advantage.
