Is Louisiana State University a good fit for a business major?
I’m a high school junior trying to narrow down colleges, and LSU keeps coming up when I look at business programs. I’m interested in a school where I can study business and still feel like I fit in academically and socially.
I’m mainly trying to understand whether LSU is considered a strong fit for someone who wants a business major.

Yes, LSU can be a good fit for a business major, especially if you want a large public university with a well-established business school, strong campus spirit, and access to a major state economy. LSU’s E. J. Ourso College of Business offers popular majors like finance, accounting, marketing, management, economics, and entrepreneurship, and it benefits from LSU’s size, alumni network, and location in Baton Rouge. Socially, LSU is known for a very active campus culture, big-school energy, and SEC athletics, so students who like a lively environment often feel at home there.
Academically, LSU is a solid choice rather than a niche elite business school. Its strengths are breadth of majors, business-related student organizations, internship access through Baton Rouge and the broader Louisiana market, and a recognizable regional reputation. Accounting and finance are often seen as especially practical options there, and students who take advantage of recruiting, networking, and internships can build strong outcomes.
The fit question depends a lot on what kind of college experience you want. LSU is best for someone comfortable at a large university, willing to be proactive, and interested in a campus with visible school pride and a busy social scene. If you want small classes from the start, a quieter campus culture, or a highly selective business program with more national pull, LSU may feel less ideal.
