What is the psychology program like at Barnard College?

Barnard’s psychology program is strong for a student who is serious about the field but still wants room to explore. The major is housed in Barnard’s Psychology Department, but Barnard students also have access to Columbia’s psychology courses, labs, and broader neuroscience and cognitive science offerings through the Columbia partnership. That gives you a liberal arts environment with the scale and research access of a larger university.

Academically, the program covers the major areas you would expect, including perception, cognition, behavioral neuroscience, developmental psychology, social psychology, and clinical or abnormal psychology.
