What GPA does Johns Hopkins typically expect from applicants?

I’m a junior trying to understand how competitive my grades need to be for Johns Hopkins. My GPA is solid but not perfect, and I’m trying to figure out whether I’m still in a realistic range.

I know admissions look at more than just GPA, but I want a general sense of what kind of academic record is usually expected.

Johns Hopkins does not publish a single minimum GPA it “expects,” but admitted students are typically near the top of their class with very strong grades in the most rigorous courses available. In practice, that usually means mostly A’s, especially in AP, IB, honors, or advanced coursework.

Johns Hopkins is highly selective, so a GPA below that range is not an automatic rejection, but it does make the rest of the application more important.

What matters most is also the strength of your transcript. Hopkins looks for evidence that you took on challenging classes and performed consistently well, not just a high weighted GPA from easier courses.
