When do I need to apply to a community college to take summer classes as a high school student?

I’m a high school junior trying to take a class at my local community college this summer, and I’m confused about how early I’m supposed to apply.

I know exact dates depend on the school, but I’m trying to understand the general timeline so I do not start too late and miss my chance to register.

Start the process in early spring, ideally 2 to 4 months before the summer term begins. For most community colleges, high school students need time not just to submit the application, but also to complete dual enrollment or visiting-student forms, placement steps if required, and registration approval.

If you want the best chance at getting a specific class, especially math, science, English, or online sections, earlier is better.

The fastest way to avoid missing anything is to check three things on the college’s website: application deadline, summer registration opening date, and the process for high school or dual-enrollment students.
