What is student life like at Colgate University?

Colgate has a classic residential liberal arts feel, and because it’s in a small town, student life is pretty campus-centered. A lot of students describe the atmosphere as close-knit, active, and social, with people spending a lot of time on campus rather than dispersing into a city.

The campus itself is beautiful and very traditional, with a strong sense of community but also a noticeable preppy and outdoorsy vibe. Hamilton is small, so if you want constant off-campus entertainment, it can feel limited. On the other hand, that usually means students invest more in campus events, clubs, performances, and each other.
