Does Boston College offer merit scholarships, or is aid mostly need-based?
I’m a high school junior starting my college list, and I’m trying to figure out whether Boston College gives significant merit scholarships or if most of the financial help is based on need.
My family would probably need some help, but I’m not sure I would qualify for a lot of need-based aid, so I’m trying to understand what kind of scholarship opportunities are actually available there.

Boston College’s aid is mostly need-based, not merit-based.
The main merit scholarship at BC is the Gabelli Presidential Scholars Program.
BC may also have a few other limited scholarship opportunities, but it is not a school where most students receive large merit awards just for strong grades or test scores. If you are building your list with merit aid in mind, Boston College should not be treated as a reliable merit scholarship school.
On the need-based side, BC does provide institutional financial aid, and for families who qualify, it can be substantial.
