How does student life compare at UIUC and the University of Edinburgh?

For a more immediately engaging, campus-centered, and structured student-life experience, UIUC has the edge. Its large residential undergraduate population, extensive residence-hall system, Big Ten atmosphere, and built-in campus programming create frequent ways to meet people. Edinburgh offers an excellent social life too, but it is more independent and city-based than campus-based.
