The biggest practical tradeoff is that NYU offers an unusually broad, city-connected organization scene but requires more initiative to build a consistent campus community, while Vanderbilt’s residential campus makes clubs more visible and socially integrated into daily student life. Vanderbilt also has a wide range of organizations, but participation tends to feel more concentrated because students live, study, and socialize on one compact campus.
