NYU vs. Fordham: Which offers better access to internships in New York City?

The biggest practical difference is proximity and day-to-day access: NYU’s main undergraduate campus is woven into lower Manhattan, while Fordham students’ experience depends heavily on whether they are based at Lincoln Center or Rose Hill in the Bronx. NYU students can often fit interviews, networking events, and part-time internships around classes in Greenwich Village, Midtown, and nearby business districts. Fordham’s Lincoln Center campus offers similarly convenient Manhattan access; Rose Hill students face a longer commute but still have direct transit options into the city.

NYU’s Wasserman Center supports internship searches through job and internship postings, career coaching, employer programs, and school-specific resources. The tradeoff is that NYU students are competing with a very large, ambitious student body for many of the same opportunities.

Fordham’s Career Center and alumni network are also meaningful advantages, particularly in business, finance, communications, law-adjacent fields, nonprofits, and public service. Students at Rose Hill need to be more deliberate about scheduling travel and building a Manhattan-based routine.

For internship access alone, NYU has the edge because its location makes frequent in-person engagement with employers unusually easy. Fordham can be comparably effective for a proactive student, especially at Lincoln Center, but NYU offers the more consistently convenient platform across fields.
