UW–Madison vs. Case Western Reserve: Which Offers Better Engineering Research Opportunities for Undergraduates?

I’m a high school senior choosing between UW–Madison and Case Western Reserve for engineering. I’m especially interested in getting involved in faculty research as an undergraduate, rather than focusing only on rankings or campus life. For sheer range and depth of engineering research, UW–Madison has the edge. For a student who values early faculty contact, a smaller setting, and biomedical or clinical collaboration, Case Western can produce an equally meaningful undergraduate research experience; it may be the more practical choice when those factors matter more than having the largest possible selection of labs.
