Is Florida or Maryland better for city life during college?

UMD itself is in a suburban college setting rather than downtown D.C., but it benefits from being part of a large, connected metro area. Students can use campus transit, Metro, and buses for everyday outings, while College Park’s Route 1 corridor provides restaurants and shops close to campus.

UF has a lively, walkable college-town environment, especially around downtown Gainesville and University Avenue. There are local restaurants, music venues, sports culture, and frequent campus events, but Gainesville is not a major-city transit environment. Its bus system is useful locally, yet most larger Florida destinations require a car or a longer trip.
