Should I Choose Rice or Georgetown for Political Science?

That proximity is especially valuable for students who want to test interests such as legislative policy, foreign affairs, campaigns, public administration, or nonprofit advocacy before graduation.

Rice remains an excellent university and has a meaningful policy resource in the Baker Institute for Public Policy. Its smaller undergraduate setting can make faculty relationships, research involvement, and campus community feel especially accessible, while Houston offers useful exposure to urban policy, energy policy, health policy, and Texas politics. Rice may be particularly appealing for someone who wants political science alongside strong quantitative, science, or engineering opportunities.

For the stated goal of government and public policy, Georgetown provides a more direct pipeline from coursework to the institutions and professional networks that shape policy.
