Should I choose Harvard or Caltech for astrophysics?

I’m a high school senior deciding between Harvard and Caltech, and I’m interested in majoring in astrophysics. I’m trying to understand which school would be a better fit for an undergraduate who wants strong astrophysics research opportunities and a rigorous physics education.

Harvard provides more flexibility to explore humanities, social sciences, policy, writing, or another field alongside physics, whereas Caltech’s core and scientific culture make the undergraduate path more structured and technically immersive. For someone who wants astrophysics to dominate their college experience rather than be one major interest among many, that distinction matters.
