Should I send a Georgia Tech waitlist update letter, and what should it include?

I was waitlisted by Georgia Tech and I’m trying to figure out the best way to handle it without overdoing it. I’ve had a couple of meaningful updates since I applied, including stronger grades and one new activity result.

I want to know whether a waitlist update letter is actually helpful for Georgia Tech, and if it is, what kind of information belongs in it so it sounds useful and not repetitive.

Yes, if Georgia Tech’s waitlist instructions allow additional materials, a short update letter can be worthwhile. It usually will not transform your odds on its own, but it can help if you have real, substantive updates like improved grades, a notable award, leadership development, or a meaningful accomplishment since applying.

The key is to keep it brief and specific. Georgia Tech does not need a rehash of your original application or a long statement of continued interest. They want new information that adds value.

If Georgia Tech’s portal has a place for updates, use that first. If they specifically say not to send extra materials, follow that instruction exactly. If they allow uploads or correspondence, one concise, well-written update is the right move.
