Which undergraduate architecture program is stronger: UC San Diego or Cal Poly San Luis Obispo?

For a student who wants to become an architect through a direct undergraduate pathway, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is substantially stronger. Its five-year Bachelor of Architecture program is professionally accredited by NAAB and is designed to meet the educational requirement for architectural licensure in most U.S. jurisdictions. Cal Poly also emphasizes studio work, building technology, structures, environmental design, and hands-on project development from the beginning of the curriculum.

Cal Poly is especially suited to students who want an intensive, practice-oriented architecture education and are comfortable committing to a structured five-year program.
