A motivated NC State student can build an excellent software engineering profile, but will need to be more proactive about seeking internships, projects, and recruiting connections than a Northeastern student following the co-op pathway.

For your stated priority, Northeastern is the stronger choice if its cost is manageable, because the co-op model offers the clearest, most reliable bridge from CS coursework to software engineering employment. NC State becomes especially compelling when it is substantially more affordable, since its academic reputation, engineering network, and Raleigh location can produce comparable outcomes for a student who actively pursues experience.
