Where can I find strong transfer essay examples for UC schools?
I’m planning to apply as a transfer student to a few UC campuses and I’m trying to get a better sense of what a solid transfer essay actually looks like. I can find a lot of general college essay examples online, but not many that seem specific to UC transfer applicants.
I mostly want examples so I can understand the level of detail and personal reflection that works for these essays.

The best place to start is the official University of California admissions website, especially the Personal Insight Questions section for transfer applicants. UC does not usually publish a large library of full successful essays, but the site does give the most reliable guidance on what each prompt is really asking and how readers evaluate responses.
For actual example essays, your safest option is to use reputable college advising sites that clearly label examples as UC transfer PIQ responses rather than generic transfer essays. When you read them, focus less on whether the story feels dramatic and more on structure: a clear answer to the prompt, specific examples, concrete actions, and a short reflection on what the experience shows about you.
A strong UC transfer essay usually feels direct and grounded. It tends to spend more space on what you did, why it mattered, and how it connects to your academic path than on elaborate scene-setting or creative writing.
As you review examples, ask yourself a few practical questions. Does the essay answer the prompt early? Does it include details that only this student could write? Does it show growth, initiative, or academic purpose without sounding forced?
Be a little cautious with random example banks, especially if they do not explain whether the sample is actually for a UC PIQ. UC transfer essays are not the same as a general transfer personal statement, so examples from other schools can give you the wrong sense of tone and format.
