Does Stanford interview all applicants?
I’m a junior trying to understand how interviews work in the college process, and Stanford is one of the schools I’m looking at.
I’ve seen people mention alumni interviews, but I can’t tell if every applicant gets one or if only some students are contacted.

No. Stanford does not interview all applicants.
Stanford offers optional alumni interviews only in certain areas where interviewers are available, so being contacted for one mostly depends on geography and capacity, not on how strong or weak your application is. Many applicants are never offered an interview, including plenty of admitted students.
If you are offered an interview, it is usually with a Stanford alumnus or alumna and is meant to be informational and evaluative in a limited way. It can help add a little context about your interests, communication style, and fit, but it is not one of the biggest parts of the application.
