Which business school is more prestigious: USC Marshall or ASU W. P. Carey?

The main tradeoff is USC Marshall’s broader national brand and especially deep Southern California network versus W. P. Carey’s strong reputation as a large, well-regarded public business school with particular visibility in certain specialties. For overall business-school prestige and name recognition, Marshall is more widely perceived as the higher-prestige undergraduate option. USC’s university-wide reputation, private-school alumni network, and long-standing connections in Los Angeles give Marshall substantial recognition among employers and alumni, particularly in finance, consulting, entertainment, real estate, entrepreneurship, and corporate roles on the West Coast.

W. P. Carey is still a respected business school, not a lesser-quality education by default. It has meaningful employer ties in the Phoenix area and a notable academic and industry reputation in areas such as supply chain management, business analytics, and real estate. ASU’s scale also means a very large alumni base, which can be valuable in Arizona and across many national companies.

Prestige is not identical to outcomes: an ambitious W. P. Carey student can build an excellent résumé and reach competitive careers, while a Marshall student still needs strong grades, experience, and networking. But when the question is simply which name carries more overall prestige in undergraduate business circles, USC Marshall has the clearer edge.
