The biggest practical difference is that Penn offers a dedicated undergraduate business degree through Wharton, while Duke does not have an undergraduate business school or traditional business major. Duke students commonly pursue economics, public policy, computer science, or related fields, sometimes paired with certificates in areas such as finance, markets and management, or innovation and entrepreneurship.

Among employers and business professionals, both names carry substantial prestige, but Wharton has the clearer and stronger standalone reputation for undergraduate business. A Wharton degree also immediately signals formal business training in a way a Duke economics degree may not.
