Its location and connections can widen access to internships, research-adjacent work, and courses across fields, although students may need to be more proactive about finding individualized faculty research opportunities in a larger, more urban university setting. NYU offers a different style of experience, with more flexibility and external opportunities.

For an undergraduate whose main priority is the strongest traditional mathematics education, intensive proof-based study, and regular faculty-guided independent work, Princeton has the edge. NYU becomes the more attractive choice when your mathematical interests are closely tied to applied work, computing, or the professional and intellectual opportunities of New York City.
