Its undergraduate campus sits in the Georgetown neighborhood, and students can build internships, public events, museums, restaurants, neighborhoods, and political or cultural programming into an ordinary week rather than treating DC as a destination trip. Yale is based in New Haven, so meaningful DC involvement normally requires a summer, a break, or a dedicated off-campus program.

At Georgetown, semester-time internships are realistically accessible because federal agencies, nonprofits, advocacy groups, media outlets, think tanks, and international organizations are throughout the city. Students regularly use Metrobus, the university’s GUTS shuttle to the Rosslyn Metro station, rideshare, bikes, and walking to reach different parts of DC. The main campus is not adjacent to a Metro stop, so commuting can take planning, but the city is still part of students’ regular routines.
