Johns Hopkins’s Homewood campus sits in north Baltimore near Charles Village, with Hampden, the Baltimore Museum of Art, coffee shops, restaurants, and parks relatively accessible from campus. Students often use university shuttles, city buses, rideshares, and walking for local errands and social plans; trips to downtown, the harbor, or other neighborhoods take more planning. Baltimore feels compact and neighborhood-based, so students tend to develop favorite local routines rather than treating the whole city as an extension of campus.

Emory’s main campus is in Druid Hills, near Decatur, and feels more self-contained and suburban despite being within the Atlanta area.
