The limitation is not a lack of options; it is that UMD’s size means students often need to be proactive about office hours, faculty relationships, labs, and clinical placements. For the specific question of stronger pre-med advising and a more streamlined path to clinical and medical-school preparation, Emory has the edge. UMD can lead to equally strong medical-school outcomes for a self-directed student, especially one drawn to NIH or D.C.-area opportunities, but Emory is likely to provide more consistently accessible advising and health-professions infrastructure.
