For the specific goal of launching a career on the West Coast immediately after college, UCLA has the clearer built-in advantage because of location, in-term internship access, and its concentrated California network. Duke is the stronger choice only if its academic environment, program fit, or campus experience is meaningfully more compelling to you, since its reputation can absolutely support a West Coast outcome with focused effort.
