Northeastern offers the more structured undergraduate path to real-world experience because its co-op program is a central, university-wide part of the academic model. Students can complete multiple full-time co-ops with employers while remaining enrolled, and co-op advisors help with preparation, applications, and the search process. That framework makes substantial professional experience an expected, planned component of many students’ college timelines rather than an optional add-on.

Northeastern also connects experiential learning to coursework through co-op seminars, employer partnerships, research, service-learning, and project-based classes across its colleges.
