UW–Madison vs UBC: Which is better for an international undergraduate student?

UBC is the more compelling choice for most international undergraduates because its Vancouver campus is exceptionally international, its location offers a major-city experience, and Canada provides a clearer post-graduation work pathway for many graduates.

Academically, both are large research universities with extensive course choices and strong faculty. Cost deserves close attention because UBC’s tuition can be more manageable than UW–Madison’s nonresident cost for some programs, but Vancouver housing and everyday expenses are high.
