Dartmouth vs. Boston College: Which Is Better for Pre-Med Preparation?

For a student seeking the most integrated pre-med environment, Dartmouth has the advantage over Boston College. Dartmouth undergraduates can study alongside the Geisel School of Medicine, pursue research connected to its medical and health-sciences community, and access clinical settings at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in nearby Lebanon. Boston College provides solid pre-health preparation, but it does not have its own medical school or an affiliated academic medical center on or immediately beside campus.

Dartmouth’s academic setup is especially useful for pre-med students who value close faculty relationships. Those opportunities can be excellent, but they typically require more independent networking, commuting, and initiative than Dartmouth’s nearby medical-campus resources. BC’s pre-health advising and science curriculum can certainly prepare successful medical-school applicants.
