Which offers stronger merit scholarships, UC Santa Barbara or UC Berkeley?

Neither campus is a dependable source of large merit aid for most admitted students. Both UCs award only a limited number of major merit scholarships, and many other institutional grants are need-based rather than merit-based. Because your family needs substantial assistance, the UC financial-aid application, including the FAFSA or California Dream Act Application as applicable, will matter more than merit-scholarship odds; UC grants, Cal Grant eligibility, and the campus financial-aid package can substantially affect the actual cost.
