Which school has the stronger undergraduate creative writing program: Arizona State or the University of Iowa?

The key difference is emphasis: ASU offers creative writing within a broad, energetic university setting, while Iowa is more likely to make creative writing feel like the campus’s defining intellectual and artistic community. For an undergraduate whose primary goal is literary fiction, poetry, nonfiction, workshops, readings, and immersion in a writer-centered culture, Iowa has the clearer edge.
