The Oakland location also creates a more traditional university experience with many nearby academic and medical institutions.

Choose CMU when computational or cognitive neuroscience is central to your interests. Choose Pitt when you want the breadth and medical-research access of a major health-sciences university. Neither choice closes doors to graduate school or medicine; your eventual research involvement, coursework, and mentoring will matter more than the name on the diploma.
