How should I compare MIT and UT Austin for computer science?
I’m a high school senior deciding between MIT and UT Austin for computer science. I’m trying to compare the academic experience, research opportunities, recruiting, and overall fit rather than choosing based only on prestige.

For a student choosing primarily on the depth and intensity of the computer science experience, MIT is the stronger pick; UT Austin can be the more sensible choice when its lower cost, Austin location, or larger-campus atmosphere meaningfully improves your college life.

UT offers a much bigger campus, major-school energy, warmer weather, and Austin’s music, food, and startup culture. Compare the actual financial packages carefully: graduating with substantially less debt can outweigh meaningful differences in institutional resources.
