Its campus sits in the heart of Santa Clara, minutes from major technology employers, making it far easier to pursue internships, part-time roles, company events, and informational interviews during the academic year. Santa Clara’s proximity also means local employers are familiar with the school and can recruit students without requiring a summer move across the country.

Boston University has strong academic resources, a large national alumni network, and access to Boston’s substantial tech, biotech, fintech, and startup scene. A BU student can absolutely reach Silicon Valley, particularly through summer internships, alumni outreach, and national recruiting, but it takes more intentional networking and often a temporary relocation. BU may be more compelling if you want to keep meaningful options open in both the Northeast and California; for building a career specifically in Silicon Valley from day one, Santa Clara’s location and embedded local network are hard to match.
