Northwestern’s Evanston campus gives students a distinct college environment on Lake Michigan, with Chicago readily accessible rather than unavoidable in daily life. Columbia’s Morningside Heights campus is more integrated into Manhattan, so internships, performances, research institutions, and city life can become part of an ordinary week.

Northwestern is especially appealing for students who want to cross academic boundaries without losing a cohesive campus experience. Its quarter system allows room for more courses, and its schools create notable options in areas such as journalism, communication, engineering, music, theatre, and design alongside traditional arts and sciences.
