Is Emory or Carnegie Mellon better for studying artificial intelligence as an undergraduate?

Emory can be compelling if your AI interests are interdisciplinary rather than purely technical. Its location and academic connections in Atlanta can support work at the intersection of computing and health-related research, and its smaller computer science environment may make it easier to form close relationships with faculty. You would likely need to be more intentional about assembling an AI-focused path through CS courses, research, and independent projects.

For undergraduate preparation specifically aimed at becoming technically strong in AI, Carnegie Mellon is the clearer choice. Emory makes more sense if you place substantial value on its broader academic setting and want to apply AI within another field, especially health, neuroscience, or the social implications of technology.
