Is MIT or UCLA better for computer engineering careers?
I’m a high school senior deciding between MIT and UCLA for computer engineering. I’m mainly focused on how each school’s academic environment, recruiting access, and alumni network could affect my long-term career opportunities in the field.

Recruiting is strong, but students may need to be more deliberate about seeking research, internships, and smaller technical communities because the campus is much larger and less engineering-centered than MIT.
For long-term computer engineering career opportunity alone, MIT has the edge because of its concentrated technical network, employer attention, and engineering-oriented alumni community. UCLA is not a limiting choice, however; a proactive UCLA computer engineering student can reach the same kinds of roles, especially in California. Choose MIT if you would thrive in a highly intensive, engineering-saturated environment and can comfortably afford it; UCLA becomes especially compelling if its cost, campus fit, or Southern California connections are substantially better for you.
