University of San Diego can be the more effective choice for a student who will thrive with a smaller private-campus environment and more individualized day-to-day support.

At Tulane, a pre-med student can build a cohesive physician-focused profile by combining demanding science courses with work in medical-school or university research labs, community health projects, and service in a city with substantial health disparities.
