Which is better for undergraduate entrepreneurship: Georgetown or Stanford?

For a student aiming to build a venture while in college, Stanford’s proximity to founders, investors, engineers, accelerators, and startup internships is difficult to match.

Georgetown has real strengths, particularly through the McDonough School of Business and the Georgetown Entrepreneurship Initiative. Students can pursue venture-focused coursework, pitch competitions, mentoring, and programming connected to the D.C. innovation ecosystem. The location can be especially valuable for startups in government technology, policy, international development, social impact, education, healthcare, and regulated industries. Georgetown also may offer a more intimate setting in which an undergraduate can take visible leadership in entrepreneurship organizations and build close relationships with faculty and alumni.

For undergraduate entrepreneurship in the broadest sense, especially technology startups and fundraising-oriented ventures, Stanford is the stronger choice because its surrounding ecosystem creates more frequent, lower-friction opportunities to meet collaborators, test ideas, and access early capital. Georgetown is compelling when the startup interest is closely tied to D.C.-based sectors or public impact, but Stanford provides the deeper and more nationally influential startup infrastructure.
