Is Duke or the University of Michigan better for studying biology?

Its biology-related offerings span areas such as molecular, cellular, and developmental biology; ecology and evolutionary biology; neuroscience; and public health-adjacent work, with extensive labs and the University of Michigan Biological Station. Programs such as the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program can help students enter research, though students may need to be more proactive in navigating a larger campus and course environment.

Cost should still carry real weight. If Michigan is substantially less expensive because of in-state tuition or aid, it can provide an exceptional biology and pre-health foundation without the financial pressure that sometimes accompanies a private-university choice.
